Albamar is located on the northwestern coast of Spain where the wines are heavily influenced by the atlantic ocean. Albariño has become one of the great white grapes of Spain and Xurxo Alba has become one of its benchmark producers. He is the living personification of Albariño and his wine is salty and refreshing like the kiss of a mermaid. We don’t know from experience but he does.

The millenary lentiscus tree on their estate speaks volumes of their history. located in the parc natural del garraf, nestled between the mediterranean coast and the garraf mountains south of barcelona, manel avinyo and his family have been farming this land since 1939. like the protected falcons overlooking the area, sumoll is an indigenous grape of the region and manel has a knack for showing it’s more elegant, softer side.

Tempranillo is referred to as ull de llebre in cataluña which means, eye of the hare. funny enough, massimo of partida creus has eyes but no hair. he and his partner antonella (yes, they’re italian) have been making wine in the baix penedes region for about 20 years, focusing on native grape varieties and natural wine made without additives of any kind. put bluntly, they put the ability in drinkability.

Grapes are 150+ years old, organically grown, hand harvested, fermented in clay amphora and aged in stainless steel tanks for about 3 months to preserve its young and fresh profile. Bottled without sulphites, unfined and unfiltered. Light-boded, and meant to drank fast! Not too fruity actually, super easy going.

If you know anything about biodynamic farming then you probably know it has something to do with the moon and cows and how lunar cycles and animal life affect the biodiversity of a crop. well, finca parera, in addition to growing grapes, also grows cherries, olives, almonds, and honey. all of which biodynamically under demeter certification. located in the alt penedes region just south of Barcelona, xarello vermell is the red version of xarello and is one of the main grapes used in cava.
